The Highlands Community garden is going into its third season and offers plots for rent to those who want to eat local, meet new folks from the neighbourhood and play in the dirt.

A valid community league membership is required to rent a plot. Memberships are available online at www.efcl.org or drop by Mandolin Books & Coffee Company on 64 Street and 112 Avenue for a coffee and purchase a membership at the same time. Membership offers two free swim passes and other great benefits.
Please note that limited gardening plots are available.
Join a group of like minded people as you sew, knit, scrap, crochet or quilt the night away. Enjoy your crafting while socializing with friends, family and neighbours. Please bring your own inspirational beverage and snack.

Every month from September to June, a group of community members or a club hosts a pub night at the Highlands Community Centre. Pub nights are typically themed featuring great music, munchies and prizes. Drinks and snacks are reasonably priced and frienships come easily. All are welcome!

During the skating season, the following Skating Guidelines are strongly enforced during all public skate times. Please take a moment to read through this document as it is important to all skaters sharing the ice.
The Highlands Community League has a dedicated Sports Director who is very interested in starting a number of programs for community members. Currently Soccer is the main focus of the sports program, but there is potential for other community sports including basketball, floor hockey, ice hockey and tennis.
Curling, lawn bowling and tennis are available in the community through private clubs. Please visit the Sports page for more information.
As of January 2012, the Highlands Community League does not have a swimming agreement allowing league members to access City of Edmonton swimming pools; however we are looking into participating in a community swim with Eastglen pool.
Updates will be posted in upcoming editions of the Highlands/Bellevue HIGHLIGHTS E-newsletter and in this space.
In late January, the EFCL, the City of Edmonton and leagues across Edmonton are investigating a new pool allocation strategy that features a specific day and time for community swims. For more information or to voice your opinion, please contact Shahryar Khan, EFCL at (780) 437-2913.
This gentle class will focus on the basics of yoga and deep slow stretches, perfect for those who are looking for a way to relax and refresh at the end of a busy week. Physical postures, breathing and relaxation techniques will be offered in an easy-to-understand style and participants are encouraged to work at their own pace and to their own abilities. Those with particular physical needs are welcome to join this class and modifications will be offered so that all can enjoy the practice.
