The Highlands Community Garden is a lovely plot of lands just north of the Highlands Community League on 113 Avenue and 62 Street. We offer organic garden plots for rent to those who want to eat local, meet new folks from the neighbourhood and play in the dirt.

Gardening plots are limited each year and tend to go quickly. Registration and opening meeting happens in March. To find out how to secure a spot or sign up for our waiting list, please contact us at garden@highlandscommunity.ca

What you need to know:

Plot sizes available:
10 x 10 ft ($20)
10 x 15 ft ($30)
4 x 8 ft raised bed ($35)

Gardeners from the previous season get priority in keeping their plots.

There are usually at least a couple of plots open each year. We maintain a waitlist and know by the end of March how many open plots there are.

Gardeners are expected to attend garden work bees (focused on the garden as a whole, not individual plots) as well as a week of filling the water barrels and possibly joining various teams for the compost, native plant plots and community plots. There is a garden potluck at the end of the season.

Community League memberships are required (or an affiliate membership if you don’t live in Highlands).
